UNIVERSITY CAMPUS IN PESCARA

The University building is located in Viale Pindaro in the southern area of Pescara (see following map). The Pescara Campus hosts the Faculty of Architecture, Economy, Foreign Languages and Management Sciences.
The Dipartimento di Scienze is in the Faculty of Economy building (Viale Pindaro 42, green stairs) and in Viale Pindaro 87, across the street.

Pescara Bus Lines

Bus lines 1 - 2 (and 21 night bus) connect the downtown area with the University Campus. The ticket can be bought at newstands and tabacchi shops nearby bus stops. Automatic vending machines are available at some stops.

The prices of the tickets is about 1.00 Euro (90 minutes) and 2.50 Euro for daily ticket.

    HOW TO REACH PESCARA

    By Car

    Rome is connected to Pescara by the Motorway A24 (Rome - junction A25) and A25 (junction A24 - Pescara). The Adriatic backbone Milano - Pescara is served by the A1 (Milan - Bologna) and A14 (Bologna - Pescara).

    To reach downtown Pescara leave the A25 (from Rome) at the Chieti - Pescara exit, or at the Pescara Ovest exit if you are driving on the A14 (from Milano). Then follow the signs to Pescara and you will reach the downtown area near the port.

    By Train

    The main railways reaching Pescara are the Rome - Pescara and Milan-Lecce lines. Timetables can be searched at the Ferrovie Italiane web site http://www.trenitalia.com/: you have to choose the "Pescara Centrale" station in the schedule search. The train Rome-Pescara leaves/arrives at the Rome Tiburtina railway station. When you arrive at the Rome "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport you have to take the train to the Tiburtina railway station. The train's final destination could be either Fara Sabina or Orte). The train runs two or three times per hour and the trip from Fiumicino to Tiburtina lasts less than one hour.

    Several types of trains are available in Italy: ES (EuroStar) fast train, expensive but comfortable; IC (InterCity) medium class train, cheaper than the EuroStar but slower; E (Espresso) cheap, basic and slow; IR (Interegionali) and R (Regionali) are local trains for commuting. Before buying a ticket, state the type of train you want to use. To travel on a EuroStar train you need to have a reserved seat. You can reserve the seat and pay for the ticket at the station ticket office, or by internet (http://www.trenitalia.it). You may then collect the reserved ticket at the automatic ticket machines in the railway stations. Remember also to pinch your ticket in the yellow machine before to get on the train.

    By Bus

    There is a convenient bus connection Rome-Pescara served by multiple companies. The travel time is about 2.5 hrs. The cost of a one-way ticket to Pescara is 15 Euro. The buses leave/arrive from/to the Tiburtina bus terminal in Rome and the railway station in Pescara. When you arrive at the Rome "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport you have to take the train to the Tiburtina railway station. The train's final destination could be either Fara Sabina or Orte. The train runs two or three times per hour and the trip from Fiumicino to Tiburtina lasts less than one hour. If you are already in Rome you can reach the Tiburtina railway Station by Metro. The ticket offices in Rome are near the bus terminal next to the Tiburtina Station (see map below). You may call the office to make a reservation to be sure to have an available seat. The ticket should be purchased before boarding and you need to specify your destination and the departure time. Normally seats are available till the very last minutes before the bus leaves. Note also that both the tickets and the seats are numbered.
