terrà un seminario dal titolo: | From Logic to E-learning
| Abstract: Constraint programming lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, optimisation and logic programming. The central notion is that of constraint, informally, a relation over variable domains; for instance, a linear equation with variables over the domain of real numbers is a constraint. Often, one hears that "constraint programming is ubiquitous", being applied in fields as diverse as molecular biology, electrical engineering, computer vision etc. In this talk, we offer a view on the ubiquity of constraints. We start by overviewing an application of constraint programming to a theoretical problem, namely, that of the satisfiability of the modal logic K. We end up illustrating the use of constraint programming in the area of intelligent tutoring systems for children, in particular, deaf children.

| Universita' "Alexandru Ioan Cuza", Iasi, Romania
| Abstract: " Convex multi-choice games are a scientifically valuable extension of traditional convex games. In a multi-choice game players have a finite number of options regarding cooperation. The more general framework improves the economic analysis of existing relevant issues. The focus here is on extensions to convex multi-choice games of concepts and results that are well understood in classical cooperative game theory."

Venerdì 09 Maggio 2008 - alle ore 15:00 | Stef Tijs
| Tilburg University and DIMA, Genova
| Abstract: It is interesting to develop a theory of cooperative games in situations where the values of evaluations are closed intervals because in various economic situations where agents intend to cooperate there is interval uncertainty. Inspired by the classical theory we develop situation concepts as interval cores and Shapley values. Special attention will be paid to convex interval games. terrà un seminario dal titolo: | Algorithms for Computing Approximate Nash Equilibria in Bimatrix Games
| Abstract: A Nash equilibrium of a noncooperative game is a pair of strategies such that no player has an incentive to unilaterally deviate from his current strategy. Recent results (e.g. Daskalakis, Goldberg, Papadimitriou '06 and Chen, Deng, Teng '06) indicate that polynomial time algorithms for finding an exact Nash equilibrium are unlikely to exist. In this talk we will consider the question of computing approximate Nash equilibrium strategies in bimatrix games. In particular, given a bimatrix game where the entries of both payoff matrices are in the interval [0,1], we will say that a pair of strategies is an epsilon-Nash equilibrium if no player can gain more than epsilon by deviating. I will first summarize the existing results on the complexity of this problem. Then I will present some recent results on obtaining improved approximation guarantees. Part of this talk is joint work with Jaroslaw Byrka and Hartwig Bosse.
